Being included in ‘Best destination wedding photographers’ isn’t an area I ever thought I would be included in. This year I was shocked to wake up to an email from Junebug Weddings explaining that two of my images have been chosen as ‘the best of the best destination photos for 2017’ alongside the best destination wedding photographers around the globe. I was in shock. I was so excited to be part of this and have our work shared across the world in news channels and wedding blogs.
For me wedding photography isn’t about how many likes, followers and awards you have. It’s not about being cool and trying to impress other photographers and travel the globe acting like a rockstar. When it comes to wedding photography I am passionate about capturing the best images and moments I possibly can for my couples. Whether that is at home in the Hunter Valley, Australia or it is in Iceland I strive to capture the natural and candid images that really tell the true story. I truly love what I do and to be awarded with any sort of achievement like this makes me so proud. I am very humbled to be in the mix of such talented photographers from across the globe.
I want to share these two winning images with you. The first image was from an elopement shot at Quiraing, Scotland. We spent the whole day on the Isle of Skye. We didn’t finish the shoot until midnight.
The second image was shot at the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. I photographed some friends I grew up with in Australia. It was such a great experience and I am privileged to be capturing their wedding day soon.
Although I tend to photograph weddings mainly in the Hunter Valley, Australia I do get to travel to other beautiful places around the world every so often. I encourage people to email me if they are dreaming of having someone capture their wedding in any remote location. I always strive to make it as affordable as possible and I absolutely love travelling to new places.
