Chances are you typed in ‘Bowral wedding photographer’ and landed on my page. The truth is I am not based in Bowral. I photograph weddings all over Australia and the world. I dont limit myself to one specific area. I love the Southern Highlands. It is such a beautiful part of the south coast.
Nick & Alex emailed me a while ago asking if I could photograph their wedding in Bowral. Not only did they ask me to capture their special day but they also offered for me to come and stay with them out on their property not far from Tambar Springs, New South Wales.
It was a long drive out to the property but it was worth every minute. Being a photographer, I always stop and admire the landscape. It wasn’t until I reached their property that I realised how beautiful the landscape really was and how isolated they were.
Nick is a crop farmer and manages Newstead Pastoral Co. Alex (Moo) works at Gunnedah Veterinary hospital as a vet nurse. You only have to look at how many pets they have on the farm to realise their love for animals. Nick drove us around in the family 1958 series 2 Land Rover which has been in his family since new. Nicks father restored it in 2007. It’s remarkable that the chassis and engine are the same originals from when it left the factory. They were so kind to show me what they do on the farm and showed me all around the property and the surrounding areas. Nick told me the story of how he proposed to Alex on top of the hill in the early hours of the morning. We ventured up to that very spot to take some photos.
Nick and Alex are an absolutely amazing couple who compliment each other so well. I am so glad I have had the chance to meet them. I feel very lucky to be a wedding photographer and to call it my job. It’s definitely not a ‘job’ in my eyes. It’s a lifestyle and I love it.
